Spotsylvania Animal Shelter, Fredericksburg, VA Shelter hours have changed in Response to COVID-19 until further notice: Tuesday-Saturday 12pm-4pm by appointment only. If you are interested in adoption or foster, please call 540-507-7459 or email animal@spotsylvania.va.us to schedule an appointment. If you have lost or found an animal, please call and leave a message with contact information and we will return your call as soon as possible. We are operated by the Spotsylvania Sheriff Office. We are striving for "No Kill", our mission began September 2013. We house all animals, appropriate, that are collected by Spotsylvania deputies or county/city residents. 2014 Live Release Rate 93%. SFC Virginia Fredericksburg, VA. SFC Virginia is a foster-based animal rescue group in Fredericksburg, VA. Founded in June 2019 with a focus on saving dogs and cats from high-kill shelters in the state, we strive to provide quality medical care including vaccinations and spay/neuter surgeries, and to find permanent adoptive homes in our area. Foster homes are always needed. Amelia County Animal Shelter The Amelia Animal Shelter is a county shelter operated Amelia Animal Control under the requirements of the Code of the Virginia. The shelter accepts animals as required under the Code and works to place animals back with their owners, adopt them to new owners, or place them with other non-profit animal welfare agencies that are able to find them new homes. Animals are adopted on a first come first served basis, so always contact the Shelter to check that the animal you are interested in is still available. If you are interested in a particular dog before its available date please phone us on 276-452-1325. Make sure to include your name and phone number so that we can return your call if needed. Messages are checked daily (Monday-Friday). We will not 'hold' a dog in response to a message on Facebook. We log names on a 'first come, first serve basis' and go in order down the list. Once you place a hold on a particular dog, you will have FOUR DAYS once the stray hold ends to adopt the dog before we move along to the next name on our list. We would like a dog to go to a new home or rescue as soon as possible after its 'available' date. If you are unable to keep your dog, please find it a home. Surrendering your dog to Smyth County Animal Shelter will not guarantee it will go to a home for a new life. SCAS is committed to take in stray dogs. If they run out of space, your dog could be euthanized to make room for another stray. Dogs marked as URGENT have little time left to live unless they are adopted or taken by a rescue. DO NOT BLAME SCAS FOR THIS SITUATION - Blame the people that dump their dogs on the street.
